YUMIKO YOSHIOKA, A CHOREOGRAPHER, DANCER AND TEACHER WHO HAS BEEN ACTIVE IN THE EUROPEAN AND WORLD BUTOH SCENE FOR DECADES, RETURNS TO FLORENCE FOR A 3-DAY WORKSHOP.

Her work is aimed at exploring the imagination and transforming it into the engine and source of movement. The body becomes a container of time and a receptor through which to tap into a collective and personal imagination. Through a process based on improvisation and the process of body awareness, it establishes a dialogue with the images, drawing on the vital energy that resides in the collective memories of our past through a journey of exploration.

Everyone can follow the work from their point of view, so even those who are not professional dancers find their experience, because this is not a formal work, but one where the body is strongly stimulated and explored in its expressive capacities.

"I call my dance approach Body Resonance. The world, including our body and soul, consists of vibrational waves that create constant resonances like echoes. When we tune our bodv to a certain frequency, we get a resonance, and according to the frequency, we get different resonances. In order for this to happen, we need to first get rid of unnecessary tension. We make a white canvas of our body to paint new color on it. I teach this as neutralization, encouraging a close to a zero. state, scouring off rust and polishing antenna to catch waves from a profound layer of the body."
