The Jail was opened in 1823 and was built upon a 12th century castle that was demolished in 1409 after numerous battles between the Scots and English. The land where the castle sat was known as gallows hill and was the site of many hangings. The jail was infamous for its terrible conditions and the cruelty that was dealt out to the prisoners so expect some extreme emotions.
Shadows and apparitions have been sighted along with numerous audible reports of male voices and glowing orbs. Visitors have witnessed full bodied apparitions, and negative energies often slam heavy cell doors, including an incident involving a guests hand in the door.
