Hike the North Tahquamenon Wilderness

This hike is a great way to see the UP Wilderness between County Road 500 and Tahquamenon Falls. Come and enjoy a day in the woods with views of Northern Bogs and White Pine ridges.

This section of trail has no crossroads, no ORV/ATV trails, it is truly a wilderness hike.

Bring: Clothing appropriate for the conditions, water, camera, Insect Remediation products of your choice. Bring a friend or two!! (Or come and make a few friends!) Bring: The 10 Essentials of day hiking. You may want a snack to have while hiking.

Meet on County Road 500 (also known as Northwestern Road) at the NCT crossing of the Little Two Hearted River, about
3.5 miles north of M-123. CR500 travels north of M-123, 4.5 miles west of the Upper Falls.

See the interactive map here: https://bit.ly/34Iy5gD and look for mile number 434 (GPS Location: 46.60562 -85.338918 Lat/Long)

Find it: https://w3w.co/inlets.coping.slopes

The length of the hike will vary depending on your abilities, motivation and the conditions that day. The carpool, long option is about 7 miles back to our vehicles. Shorter options include an up to 4-mile hike out and back hike from where we are parked.

We will need to record your name and contact information before the hike.

All of these miles hiked will count towards the 2023 NCT Hike 100 Challenge! For more information about the challenge, follow this link: https://northcountrytrail.org/hike-100-challenge/ -- You CAN do this!!

After the hike we will gather at a nearby location for refueling and refreshment.

A Michigan Recreation Passport is needed to park in Tahquamenon Falls State Park.

Cell phone service may not be the best (non-existent) in the area of the hike. If you have questions before the day of the hike, text Tom at 906-322-2617 or comment in this event’s discussion.
