Learn how Levi and Catharine Coffin were instrumental in creating one of the most successful safehouses on the Underground Railroad in Indiana through a guided tour of the Coffin home. Discover how you can use the experiences of the Coffins to teach about the Underground Railroad through a provided curriculum, which includes one primary and one secondary resource for the classroom.

Also, writer Randall Wisehart from Richmond, Indiana, will be on site to speak to teachers about his young adult novel Luke’s Summer Secret. Educators will be guided by Wisehart on how to use his historical fiction work, which features Levi and Catharine Coffin, in the classroom.

Recommended for educators in grades 3 - 8.

This program has been made possible through a grant from Indiana Humanities and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
