In this one-day workshop you will be introduced to the “Transform Your Yard to a Food Garden” mentorship program and the actions you can take now to set up an abundant food growing space for next years growing season.
The topics covered are:
• Planning skills – local tips on how and when to get started for next year’s growing season
• How to build a new food garden or expand your existing growing space and what not to do!
• Where and how to get the supplies needed
• Soil! Where to get it, how to build good soil health and setting you up for a good start (or expansion)
• Soil amendments, tools and equipment
• The basics of food plant care
• Harvesting and feeding your family
• Questions and answers
Date: Saturday, August 9th, 2025
Time: 9:30AM to 4:30PM
Lunch will be provided - you will help make a fresh salad from the garden and taste many locally grown and locally made foods!
Location: Northern Roots Market Garden, 5030 – 57th Street, Yellowknife, NT
Registration Fee: $75 – please register at www.northern-roots.ca
