Please join us to give blood, give life, and help end AFE!

My sister, Katie Talley Dawson, experienced an AFE (amniotic fluid embolism) when giving birth to her youngest daughter, on July 23, 2018.

Amniotic fluid embolism is a rare but serious condition that occurs when amniotic fluid β€” the fluid that surrounds a baby in the uterus during pregnancy β€” or fetal material, such as fetal cells, enters the mother's bloodstream. Amniotic fluid embolism is most likely to occur during delivery or in the immediate postpartum period. If you’re interested in learning more, please do some research. Awareness raises research. We need more research. There is no known cause of AFE.

One crucial factor in helping women suffering an AFE, is blood products. Most require numerous blood transfusions in order to survive. This is why my family and I are passionate about blood donation.

Even if you can’t give, please plan to come by and visit. It means so much to us to have your support. This is a kid friendly event!

We are excited that Turner Shaved Ice will be there to serve their delicious shaved ice!
