ABC's of Arkansas Summer Mushrooms
Sunday, June 22 @ 10am-7pm

This power point presentation and foraging fungi workshop will focus on techniques used to identify wild mushrooms. Our morning presentation will be followed by a lunch break (brown bag it) and an afternoon foray in the Ozark National Forest to observe and collect mushrooms/fungi in their natural habitat. Then we'll gather our finds, head back to Ozark Folkways for a hands on identification workshop followed by one of our ever popular tastings!

Jay Justice is a retired epidemiologist who formerly worked at the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality. He is a co-founder and scientific advisor for the Arkansas Mycological Society (1982) and a scientific advisor to the Cumberland Mycological Society as well as a chief mycologist for the Missouri Mycological Society.

As anyone who has attended one of Jay's workshops in the past knows, these informative and delicious events fill up quickly.

Participants are encouraged to wear seasonally appropriate clothing, bring a walking stick if needed, sun screen, insect repellent, drinking water and a paper sack for collecting mushrooms.

Tickets are $65 per person and include dinner. Tickets are non refundable. Register at www.ozarkfolkways.org
