Jen Best has spent much of her life immersed in textiles, with a particular focus on knitting, crochet, and Dorset buttons. In 2011, she opened an artisan wool shop where she could sell natural fibres, teach workshops, and specialize in Dorset buttons. Her passion for textiles led her to publish her first book, which was a pivotal moment in her career, solidifying her path as a textile artist. Jen has since written several more books, taught hundreds of classes, and explored various ideas and materials, with a special love for hand stitching and wool.

This newly created exhibition, “A Fascination of Trees,” celebrates trees in all their glory through the medium of textile art.

Jen’s work is inspired by the world around her, particularly nature, trees, and the sea. She believes in the beauty and inspiration found in everyday surroundings and strives to capture this in her art. Her dedication to learning and teaching has made her a beloved figure in the textile community.

Visitors to “A Fascination of Trees” can immerse themselves in a world where they can hug a woolly tree and sit under a fabric leaf canopy. The exhibition encourages community participation, offering the opportunity to contribute to a community wall hanging by making a leaf. In addition to the stunning displays, there will be workshops, a book, and various activities that promote creating, learning, and community engagement. “A Fascination of Trees” promises to be a unique and heartwarming project that brings people together to celebrate the beauty and significance of trees.
