Slim Chance - The Ronnie Lane Songbook + guests The Ladles

A year to the weekend after their joyous and completely sold-out show at the Sound Lounge, Slim Chance are heading back to our stage!

When Ronnie Lane left the Faces and formed Slim Chance, little did he dream the band would still be touring the country more than half a century later, delighting fans and enjoying playing together in the spirit that Ronnie championed so magnificently.

Fifty years, on two original members - Steve Bingham (bass) and Charlie Hart (accordion and fiddle), joined by Geraint Watkins (keys), Frank Mead (saxes, harp and whistle) and Brendan O’Neill (drums), showcase Ronnie’s classic songs and a few originals with humour and energy. Between them they have worked with Paul McCartney, Rory Gallagher, Eric Clapton, Van Morrison, B.B. King, Geno Washington, Bill Wyman, Ian Dury, Nick Lowe and many more.

The band’s set consists of many of Ronnie’s classic and much loved songs: Ooh La La, Debris, How Come, One for the Road, The Poacher and more. The rebirth of Slim Chance is a phenomenon in itself. The band features top quality musicianship and has received many great reviews as they "convincingly recreate Ronnie's uniquely ruralised, soul-and-groove brand of folk-rock" (Uncut); and "with a rough-shod, rollicking sound of their own, the party is already in full swing" (Record Collector).

Just as at their 2024 show, the band's special guests will be our great friends The Ladles, bringing their appealing combination of Americana-flavoured originals and choice covers back to our stage. Tom Reid and Chris Narayan (of the Jasmine Minks), Sean Bright and Sam Palmer are joined by Isobel Reid and Joe Kinsey, the latter also the host of the SL's popular Open Mic night.
