Food Preservation: Grow, Harvest, Preserve, Eat ... Repeat!

August is the beginning of the harvest season, when your gardens and the local farmer's market is brimming with ripe tomatoes, peppers, eggplant and more! What does that mean? It's preserving time! If you've never tried canning your own produce for an economical supply of locally grown organic produce, this is the presentation for you.
Katrina lives on a small homestead in Coboconk where she grows most of her food supply for the year in a 2000-square-foot garden using permaculture practices, and also produces her own compost and organic amendments. She has been preserving food for 20 years using conventional methods to preserve fruit, vegetables and meat for long-term storage and self-sufficiency.
Learn about the basics of food preservation and tips to get you started on your journey to self-sufficiency.
SPECIAL NOTE: Katrina has agreed to cooperate with us on the purchase of a special door prize for this event - a $75.00 supply of preserving equipment!
Attendance free for Coboconk Garden Club members, but guests are always welcome ($5.00 at the door).
