The September concert showcases Wangaratta Symphony Orchestra playing a full symphony - Dvorak’s New World Symphony, no 9 - in the second half of the program. In this exciting symphony, Dvorak explores something of his feelings of being in the 'new world' of USA, and in a break with tradition at the time, includes themes from African America spirituals.
The first act explores other 'new world' pieces by Gershwin, Stravinsky and Cohen, with well-known themes from West Side Story and the Liberty Bell.
We also hope to feature two soloists from the orchestra in this concert.
