A must-see for all fans of diesel locomotives, the diesel gala returns for 2025 starring visiting locomotive T.I.C. No.35 from Tanfield Railway. Having been the centrepiece of our North Shields 800 exhibition throughout June, this will be a unique opportunity to ride behind No.35 a stoneβs throw away from its old stomping ground at Coble Dene engine shed and Albert Edward Dock.
Also, returning to action after an eight-year absence is unique locomotive Consett No.10, built in-house for use at Consett Steelworks in 1958 using several recycled components from steam locomotives. No.10 returns to service following an extensive re-wire and installation of new batteries by volunteers of the North Tyneside Steam Railway Association.
Completing a line-up of four diesel locomotives will be ex-British Rail stalwarts 03078 and 08915 from the home fleet. An intensive timetable will be operating throughout the weekend with double headers, demonstration freight trains and opportunities to visit the cabs of the locomotives.
