Use the code “Dog tag” at checkout for zero dollars and zero cents for our soldiers.
To willingly provide service despite the consequences all to protect us. Home of the free because of the brave 🇺🇸.
Our purpose is to show honor and appreciation for all military services who did just that. Veterans Day next year is November 11th, but we will plan the celebrations a few days early. Our festivities will start at the Lyons trailhead of the White River State Trail. The now “rail trail” is made up of crushed limestone that runs about 12 miles long. The railroad was completed in 1856, then later purchased in 1999 by DNR with the purpose of trail development. With that history it makes it a perfect place to host the day. Our event here is a continuation of Kenosha Running Company’s holding of it from 2019 until 2024. They kept the tradition going after Jared Bane originated it in 2014.
The event will consist of 13.1 miles (half marathon distance) and 6.5 miles. Each distance will be an “out and back” with fluids provided on course. Fees are $40 for the half and $20 for the 6.5.
🪖🪖🪖THIS IS FREE for military veterans, active and reserve duty along with their spouses. We will seek out a local Veterans organization to donate profits to.
Snacks and refreshments will be provided/available afterwards along with merchandise to purchase.
No trail fees are required for foot traffic. You may also join to walk or hike, running is an option!!! Bikes however require a pass. Please purchase those in advance here https://dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/parks/admission/trailpass
During this event the trail is still open to the public as well. Please be courteous and announce yourself before passing others.
New faces and new places!! That’s always a good goal to have.
