Join us for a full-day drawing workshop exploring Newhavens environs through observation, sketching, and expressive mark-making. This relaxed, immersive session is suitable for all levels — whether you're picking up a pencil for the first time in ages or looking to loosen up your drawing style.
We’ll start the day outdoors (weather permitting!), focusing on gathering visual information from architectural forms, rhythms, and city textures. The aim isn’t to create a perfect drawing but to train your eye and hand to work intuitively, capturing the energy of place.
You’ll try out a range of techniques and materials — including graphite, charcoal, ink, gouache, and oil pastel — and experiment with texture, line, light, and colour. If the weather turns, we’ll head indoors and continue working from gathered sketches and studies.
Expect short, playful exercises, plenty of guidance, and the chance to develop a small body of work or sketchbook series by the end of the day. You’ll leave with new approaches to drawing, a fresh way of seeing your surroundings, and a recharged creative brain.
