We are celebrating the life of Frida Kahlo with a free community festival, hosted by The Phoenix Fridas!
We have TWO events to celebrate not only the life of Frida Kahlo, but also the 15th anniversary of The Phoenix Fridas!
Phx Frida Fest EVENT ONE:
The Phoenix Fridas Group Show:
From 6-9 p.m. at Fair Trade Cafe, Central, 1020 N 1st Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85003, The Phoenix Fridas will celebrate 15 years of being an Arizona Latina art collective! Our group was founded in 2004, and we are still going strong.
On this night, each current member will share a current piece, inspired by being a creative soul, living in the desertland of Phoenix, Arizona. We'll have music, fancy headdresses and we'll be excited to mingle with the First Friday crowd at Fair Trade!
Phoenix Frida Fest EVENT TWO:
On Saturday, noon-4 p.m. at the Mucho Mas Art Studio building (1736 E. McDowell Road, Phoenix), we'll have another festive party to celebrate the life of Frida Kahlo. Her birthday anniversary is July 6th - so the timing will be just right!
We are teaming up with the other shops (Palabras Bilingual Bookstore, Galeana 39, and La Bohemia) in the building to present four hours of education and entertainment!
There will be a lot going on, more to come! We hope you'll join us!
We'll have a stage of presentations and performances:
Phx Frida panel discussion with tips for being a working artist/creativity.
Wear a handmade headdress or your extreme Frida-inspired outfit and be a part of our fashion show and contest! One entry per family.
Kathy Cano-Murillo, The Crafty Chica, will offer some unknown trivia about Frida and sign copies of her new book , Forever Frida: A Celebration of the Life, Art, Loves, Words, and Style of Frida Kahlo inside Palabras Bilingual Bookstore.
