This year marks the 39th anniversary of the first pride march in Edmonton!
Join us on Saturday June 8th for a community driven march to strengthen our community with LGBTQ2S+ folks and allies.
We will gather and march in unity, empowerment and love for who we are.
Please meet us at 9am at Louise McKinney Park (9999 Grierson Hill NW, Edmonton, AB T5H 2A4)
The day will begin with a rally at the park followed by a march around the neighboring area in support of equality and our LGBTQI+QTPOC community. We have invited speakers from groups working within our community to speak out and tell us their story as well as keynote guest speakers.
We expect to leave the park for the march portion at 10am. Please see parade route posted recently in the comments if you would like to cheer us on from the sidelines!
At the end of the march we will have food available, BBQ and other varieties at Louise McKinney Park.
Please note the Edmonton Pride Community Street Festival will run from noon-late in the area of 103 St and 102 Ave.
How can I help?
We are looking for volunteers, please send an email to UHJpZGVpbmZvQUIgfCBnbWFpbCAhIGNvbQ==
We have reached out to vendors and are still looking for sponsors and funds to ensure the day goes well. If you know any performers or vendors who may be interested in setting up for the day please have them message us with details.
We encourage everyone to share our gofundme page and help us to raise the funds required for a successful event.
Who is organizing this event?
While Pure Pride is still listed as the host of the event on Facebook, they are no longer involved in the planning of this event. This is now being organized by individuals in the community, the decision was made to keep the event page as is so that everyone who had RSVPd to the event would not lose information on the march.
Is there a parade or other march happening?
No. This is the only march happening on June 8th in Edmonton. There is no parade as the Edmonton PRIDE Festival Society cancelled the parade and festival in April. This sent our community into a bit of a tail spin and we ask for your patience and understanding as we (us here at the Unified March and all the others hosting events) work towards creating a dynamic range of grassroot events on very little notice.
What’s going on with this event? Why the last minute changes?
We had originally planned for this march to start at Oliver at 11am, head down Jasper ave and end at the Street Festival outside Evolution. With the growing popularity of the march the city had concerns over the ability to host the type of crowd expected at this route and so we have been working with them to find an alternate route that can support us all. Many of us were looking forward to the route, we understand your frustration over the last minute change. Again, we ask for your patience and understanding, some things are out of our hands but we are doing the best we can with the short amount of time that was given to us.
Is this march accessible?
Please know the march now involves some hills and grassy areas. We apologize for the limitations this might pose to some. For those this might affect please know we would still love to have you participate. You can join the march at the outset from 95a St and Grierson Hill (or Jasper Ave), from that point on it is paved and fairly flat. Feel free to step away from the march at any point as well, if distance is an issue. We also invite those who cannot or prefer not to march with us to cheer us on from the sidelines, similar to many would have for the PRIDE Parade.
Thank you to everyone for your love and support. Hope to see you all on Saturday!
