Free parking & admission.
Open house style - visit anytime on Sundays between 10-2. Join us as you tour the facility, including Shellmaker trail, teaching lab, aquatic lab, and touch tanks. Learn about the Back Bay Science Center's Educational Programs and how you can get more involved.
* NEW * Short guided nature walks offered two Sundays per month. Trail is flat and less than a mile. Join a Newport Bay Conservancy Naturalist at either 11am or 1pm to learn more about the flora, fauna, and history of Shellmaker Island! No reservations needed but advance registration is encouraged. Look for 11am or 1pm ticket times to find the dates we'll be running tours!
Public Animal Feeding occurs between 12-1pm. Get your questions answered about our live animals and learn about their environment and behaviors.
We love our furry family members but dogs and other pets are not allowed this time due to endangered bird activity.
Join us by bike! There are bike racks in the back of the building by the touch tanks. Please do not ride your bike on the trails on the island.
