Youth Volunteer Group

June only !

We are going to run a evening nightjar walk for the youth group instead of this months volunteer session. These migratory birds are really worth an evening on the Forest to see. However we will get the best views of nigthjars if the weather is warm and dry so we are keeping the Sunday as a back up date if the Saturday evening if wet. Please book on both the Saturday night and Sunday back up date, if you can or if you can only do one of the sessions just book that. We will contactyou a few days before to let you know which session will be running.

Young people joining the group will:

• Take part in practical conservation tasks
• Explore the Ashdown Forest with experts
• learn more about wildlife surveys
• Gain future career experience
• Meet up with others who enjoy being outdoor
• Join discussions

No experience necessary. No cost for volunteering.

All tools and equipment provided. Training will be provided in tool use and the group will be supervised at all times by qualified staff.

Wear stout shoes / boots and suitable all weather clothing. We will aim to be outside in all but heavy rain and strong winds.

Hot drink and snack provided. Bring your own lunch and a drink.

Volunteering with this group could contribute toward your D of E award, scout / guide badges or school community service.

Sites may be on uneven ground and may be challenging for those with limited mobility.

A Parental Consent and a Code of conduct form will be required when attending your first volunteer session.
