Join artists Patrice D. Bowman and Dylan Castagnette, whose work is featured in the "Artists' Ways" exhibit, for a fun cyanotype workshop.

About this Event

This workshop is inspired by filmmaker and Filmshop member Patrice D. Bowman's video/photo exhibition "Artists' Ways."

The exhibit is on view at the Filmshop House (4B) until August 31; Saturdays and Sunday only, 11am - 5pm.

In this workshop, Bowman and Dylan Castagnette will guide attendees in the alternative photography process of cyanotype. Participants will walk away with their own unique prints. Participants will gather materials from acround the island and are encouraged to bring their own.

Cost: Free, but donations are highly appreciated; please support the artists.

About the artists:

Patrice D. Bowman is a Queens-based award-winning filmmaker, educator, and photographer. Her short films have screened nationwide, including at the Academy Award-qualifying Reel Sisters of the Diaspora Film Festival & Lecture Series. When she's not working on videos, she's engaged in event, street, and portrait photography. She graduated with a B.A. in Film Studies from Yale College in 2015.

Dylan Castagnette is a Mauritian filmmaker living in Brooklyn. In 2023, Dylan co-directed a short film, Wandering In Beauty, supported by the University Open Air program presented by Brooklyn Public Library. He also practices photography, experiments with cyanotype printing and has previously worked as an intimacy director in theater productions in the city. Dylan holds a bachelor in Mathematics from Columbia University and is currently a project manager at a consulting firm.
