About this Event

The Therapeutic Power of Sound: Using Sound to Heal the Body, Mind, and Emotion

Join us for an enlightening event that explores the healing power of sound! Learn how different sounds can positively impact your body, mind, and emotions. This in-person event will be held at 2940 Canal St, so mark your calendars and get ready to immerse yourself in the world of sound therapy. The Therapeutic Power of Sound blends science, somatic psychology, and experiential healing to explore how sound therapy can support emotional regulation, trauma recovery, and nervous system balance. Co-facilitated by a licensed clinical social worker and a certified sound healing practitioner, this immersive experience combines psychoeducation with a live, guided sound bath session.

This workshop is approved for 3 hours of clinical continuing education by the Lotus Cognition Center, as authorized by the Louisiana State Board of Social Work Examiners.

Presenters:

Ashley Kinshita, Music Therapist and Damekia Morgan, DSW, LCSW-BACS

Venue & Comfort Information: Swan River Yoga Mandir

This workshop will take place in a serene yoga studio environment, designed to support relaxation and embodiment. The space offers both chair seating and floor seating on yoga mats, and participants are welcome to choose or alternate between either option during the workshop.

While yoga mats and some props will be provided, you are encouraged to bring any personal items—such as pillows, bolsters, or blankets—that will help you feel more comfortable during the sound bath and integration period. These items are optional and not required.

Please note that the studio is a shoeless space. You may wish to bring socks for comfort.

The facility is located in a historic building with one flight of stairs and no elevator access. We are happy to assist with mobility support to the best of our ability. If you have specific access needs or questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out in advance.

We look forward to creating a welcoming and restorative space for your participation.

Check-In: Please arrive at 1:30 pm for check-in. The workshop will start promptly at 2:00 p.m.
