From Classic Jazz to the Great American Songbook on the Pleyel Double Grand
About this Event
Stephanie Trick and Paolo Alderighi return to Asbury United Methodist Church to play an all new set on the Pleyel Double Grand piano. Pioneers in the use of four-hands piano in jazz, Trick & Alderighi have earned widespread success with their arrangements of classics from the stride piano, ragtime, and boogie woogie traditions, as well as from the Swing Era.
The first set will focus on the classic jazz repertoire, featuring composers like Duke Ellington, Thomas “Fats” Waller, W. C. Handy, Jelly Roll Morton, and the second set on the Great American Songbook, featuring composers like George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Cole Porter and Harold Arlen, and Frederick Loewe.
Selections will include: On the Sunny Side of the Street, It Don’t Mean a Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing), Just a Closer Walk with Thee, Tiger Rag, Blue Skies, Anything Goes, Stormy Weather, and a medley from My Fair Lady.
