The Future of Black Media Begins Here

In December, at the 5th Annual Best of Black Dallas Awards, we announced the creation of the James A. Washington Foundation, a bold step to honor the legacy of our late publisher and strengthen the future of Black journalism.

After seven months of strategic planning, we’re ready to make it official. Join us on August 5 (6–9 PM) at Mokah Coffee & Tea for our first foundation fundraiser and a major announcement about what this initiative means for Black voices in Dallas and across the nation.

This launch isn’t just about celebrating a legacy—it’s about creating sustainable pathways for Black media, investigative journalism, and community storytelling for generations to come.
