The story of the submarine service by one who was there.

About this Event

β€œTorpedo in the Water!” Edward A. Sierra vividly remembers hearing those terrifying words loudly come across the speakers while submerged aboard a nuclear-powered fast attack submarine in the Mediterranean Sea. Ed joined the United States Navy at age 17, having just graduated from High School in Medford, NY. Upon completion of an intense two-year Naval training program, Ed reported to the Electrical Division onboard the U.S.S. Billfish SSN-676. In this talk he reviews early submarine history and then recalls his journey from Boot Camp in San Diego, through Naval Schools across the country, to his adventure as a Navy Nuclear Propulsion Trained Electrical Operator (Navy Nuke!) serving on the U.S.S. Billfish stationed out of New London, CT.
