🎶 Jazz Lab KC Vocal Workshop with Kara Smith 🎤An interactive vocal masterclass exploring the heart and soul of jazz singing
Join us for the kickoff of the Jazz Lab KC Vocal Workshop series, an exciting extension of the Jazz Lab KC Program at the Mutual Musicians Foundation! This hands-on session will be led by acclaimed vocalist, educator, actress, and instrumentalist Kara Smith.

Workshop Format:In this 90-minute workshop, participants will:
- Listen to and compare multiple recorded versions of a classic jazz tune (chosen by Kara).
- Sing as a group with live piano accompaniment in several keys.
- Choose their ideal key and perform individually at the mic.
- Receive supportive feedback on vocal tone, phrasing, expression, and jazz style.
Whether you're a beginner or seasoned performer, this is a safe and encouraging space to stretch your jazz vocal chops and learn from an expert.
About the Instructor – Kara Smith:Kara Smith is a dynamic artist from Lawrence, KS with a Bachelor of Music Education (Vocal) from Baker University. She brings a rich background in choral, theatrical, acapella, sacred, and jazz traditions—infusing each session with deep musical insight and a nurturing spirit. Her expertise spans genres, but her heart beats strongest for jazz, classical, and spiritual music.
