UNLIKELY PROSPECT BOOK LAUNCH
About this Event
"With the tinkle of glasses and murmur of conversation a comforting backdrop all around them, Jane raised her Manhattan in a toast to Sandy, her publisher and friend."
Come raise a glass for Sandy and Jane, at Shelley Blanton-Stroud’s An Unlikely Prospect launch party, Tuesday, August 19, 5:30-7:30 at Magpie Cafe, Sacramento.
If you would like to attend, please:
- “Buy” the free tickets on this site, and then
- Go to Capital Books’ website to pre-order the novel. ( https://store.capitalbooksonk.com/browse/filter/t/unlikely%20prospect/k/keyword) One book per couple is great. Capital Books will have your purchase at the door. Your book is your ticket:)
From 5:30-6:45 we’ll enjoy appetizers and drinks and visit and get your books signed.
At 6:45, Shelley Blanton-Stroud and journalist Carla Meyer will speak for a short time. Carla is a movie reviewer for the SF Chronicle (real life home of the fictional Prospect) and previously restaurant and movie reviewer at the Sacramento Bee and, most importantly, The BAKERSFIELD CALIFORNIAN. (Shelley and Carla’s fathers knew each other in high school.)
After Shelley and Carla finish up, please linger over food and drink and get your book signed.
Magpie’s Janel Inouye and Ed Rohr have done an AMAZING job crafting a menu of passed small plates that come right out of the pages of the novel: Lobster Bisque, California halibut with green beans, Niman Ranch New York Steak with steamed broccoli, prawn cocktail, chicken Jerusalem, blinis with caviar, hang town fry, and baked smashed potatoes. There will be an open bar as well as a couple varieties of Sancerre, which plays a role in the plot.
Thank you for being so supportive of a Sacramentan’s bookish journey. And please feel free to pass this along to someone else who may enjoy such an evening.
