Death Cafe
About this Event
It’s just like it sounds - refreshments and a space to discuss death.
Death Cafes are part of a worldwide movement that offer an invitation to boldly explore the fate that awaits every living being. By being open and inquisitive, we realize death is not the enemy and there is great benefit in broaching our resistance to explore it.
Death Cafes provide a place for sharing the thoughts, feelings and questions we have around our dying. They are accessible, respectful and confidential with no intention of leading people to any conclusion, product or course of action.
Death Cafe’s objective is “to increase awareness in relation to death while helping people make the most of their (finite) lives”.
*This is a group directed discussion rather than a grief support or counseling session.
The Death Cafe is simple: people, often strangers, gather to share snacks, drink tea and discuss death.
Death Midwife Paige Hetherington of Charleston Community Deathcare will be present to answer any questions.
If you feel inspired, bring a healthy snack to share.
Donations are welcome.
