AfriClassical Futures proudly presents Guggenheim Award-winning violinist Gwen Laster and her powerhouse ensemble featuring Damon Banks (bass) and Isaiah Spencer (drums/percussion). The ensemble will play original compositions and arrangements inspired trough the lens of the African Diaspora.

Artist Bios
Violinist Gwen Laster—a 2025 Guggenheim Award winner—performs original music inspired by African mythology, social justice, current events and the African Diaspora lexicon.
Bassist Damon Banks, a lover of history, culture and global music, composer, screenplay writer, bandleader and 2024 recipient of Arts Mid Hudson Individual commission award.
Drummer Isaiah Spencer is an innovative jazz and blues drummer, band leader and teaching artist and mentor for a nonprofit organization called Youth Guidance in Chicago, Illinios
