Duo Dynamics Improv Comedy Workshop
About this Event
Great things come in pairs! This workshop dives into the unique art of performing as a duo—where trust, timing, and connection are everything. You’ll explore how to build strong scenes with just two people, develop clear communication and listening skills, and create compelling characters and relationships that captivate audiences. Through targeted exercises and partner games, you’ll learn how to share space, play off each other’s energy, and balance leading and following naturally. Ideal for improvisers looking to strengthen their partnerships and master the intimacy and intensity that only duo performance can deliver.
Daytime workshops at the Big Couch Binge offer something for improvisers of all levels—from those just starting out to seasoned performers looking to deepen their skills. This particular workshop does require intermediate improv knowledge that includes devices like walk-ons, tapouts, cut-tos, and more.
And, don't forget about our multi-workshop passes that provide a discount when taking more than one workshop on either day. See our full event page for workshop bundles.
About the Instructors - Scott Anderson & Andy Ledford
Scott Anderson, or “Scoot” as he is called by his friends, is originally from Jackson, MS but has lived in New Orleans since 2013 and started improv a year later. He grew up falling asleep to the sounds of his parents’ bluegrass band rehearsing into the night. Even though he fought it for 18 years, he eventually realized that he had to learn to play guitar or be ostracized by his family. He went on to receive a degree in classical guitar while also studying jazz, funk, rock, and bluegrass. Music is his heart, comedy is his mind, but his MBA from the University of New Orleans pays the bills. When he is not working as a software engineer, Scott teaches, coaches, and performs improv comedy. He is the co-founder and co-owner of Big Couch, where writes improv course curriculum and oversees the venue's technical operations.
Andy Ledford is a comedian based out of New Orleans, Louisiana. Creating humor and food have been a constant journey for Andy his entire life. Originally from Baton Rouge, Andy started performing comedy in south Louisiana in 2008. Since moving to New Orleans in 2012, his main pursuits have been studying, performing, coaching, and teaching improvised comedy of all styles. In the food world, he’s worked at all kinds of food service jobs from fry cook at a 24-hour diner, to managing cheeseburger food truck, helping at a vegan pop-up, and cheesemonger as well as many other not so glamorous gigs. These odd jobs have provided a wealth of unique characters Andy is known for. He can often be found walking/biking around New Orleans taking photos and mining for comedic inspiration.
