Arts Fundraising Workshop
About this Event
Fundraising workshop with Hannah Thomas (CEO Alira Arts)
Got a brilliant idea, but no clue how to fund it?This workshop is for you.
Whether you’re an artist, performer, filmmaker, producer or creative of any kind, if you're just starting out and want to understand how funding works, this is your intro guide to making projects happen.
Led by fundraising consultant, CEO, and artist Hannah Thomas, this session will break down:
- The main types of fundraising available to creatives (trusts and foundations, individual giving, sponsorship, and more)
- Where to start if you’ve never applied for funding before
- How to approach an Arts Council England Project Grant (including real tips and common mistakes)
- What funders actually want to see in an application
- How to talk about your work and ideas with confidence, even if they’re not fully developed yet
Expect a relaxed, jargon-free session with time for questions, practical examples, and templates you can use later. You won’t leave an expert but you will leave with a better understanding of how fundraising works, and how to take the next step.
No prior experience needed. Just come with curiosity and something to write with.
Hannah Thomas is a fundraiser, CEO, and founder of Alira Arts, a consultancy that supports artists and small organisations with fundraising, capital campaigns, and strategic development.
