ABOUT THE CRUISE
Unwind and connect with nature during our limited-edition Catalina Island Cruise.
Our upscale double-deck catamaran Hoku Nai'a is so much more comfortable and less crowded than a ferry boat to Catalina!
Dave and I fell in love with Catalina nearly 30 years ago on our very first trip. We still remember the awe of seeing bison, foxes, and deer there for the first time—and the underwater marine life? Absolutely spectacular. There’s something timeless about the island. Depending on the harbor, it feels like stepping back into California—or even Europe—50 to 100 years ago. We love it.
Our favorite things to do are walking the trails, exploring the Botanical Gardens, and riding the semi-submersibles to take in the stunning world beneath the waves. - Gisele (Mrs. Capt. Dave)
With a Mediterranean climate, clear blue waters, and many fun things to do, locals know Catalina Island to be a beautiful paradise located only about 30 miles off our coast.
During your shore time at Avalon, you can enjoy many experiences, including snorkeling at Lovers Cove State Marine Conservation Area, swimming at the beach, shopping, visiting the Botanical Gardens, and golf cart or bike rentals. There are multiple restaurants to choose from for lunch.
After arriving at the island, you’ll have around 4 hours to go ashore and eat, explore, and enjoy the many delights of Avalon.
66th Annual Catalina Festival of Art
During this Catalina cruise to Avalon, you can also attend the 66th Annual Catalina Festival of Art. This is one of California's longest-running and most recognized art festivals! Artists from all over the country show and sell their works of fine art, jewelry, pottery, stoneware, sculpture, fine crafts, and photography along Crescent Avenue.
ABOUT THE BOAT
Hoku Nai'a is Captain Dave's double-deck, upscale power catamaran.
Her spacious upper deck is perfect for whale watching by giving you an elevated look at the animals. For your comfort, there is ample cushioned bench seating, and it's covered for protection from the elements. There is also a bar with water, soda, beer, wine, and hard seltzers available for purchase.
The main deck is fully enclosed for climate control, while large windows on both sides provide plenty of viewing angles. Bench seats with tables and a lounge area are perfect for those wanting to enjoy refreshments.
There are two restrooms on the main deck.
You will enjoy upscale décor throughout the vessel that celebrates Dana Point’s famous surfing culture and recognition as the Dolphin and Whale Watching Capital of the World®.
