About this Event
Advanced tickets are encouraged and are $20. Tickets will also be available Day of Show for $25. Join us for a great concert of Irish and Appalachian music! For over two decades The Walker Family Band has delighted audiences with a distinctive take on traditional styles, centering on Irish and Old-Time fiddle music. "We especially enjoy sharing our own original tunes with folks!" Scott’s daughter, Jennie, leads the way with her beautiful sound on fiddle; Scott is on guitar, fiddle, and at times, cello; and Scott’s brother Landon is on accordion and bass.Father and Daughter add vocals to the mix. They sometimes add other familymembers to their shows! On stage The WFB creates a unique confluence of sound and makes a fresh connection with each audience. The Walker’s are closely connected to Greensboro! For over twenty years Scott lived at the corner of Scott Avene and Walker Street! (No Joke) He taught at just about every school in Greensboro. His student group, “The Walker Street Fiddlers” was a mainstay at many events over the years. Scott’s brother Landonmoved to Greensboro after an amazing 40 year stint as a jazz bassist in Jacksonville, Fla.You may know that Scott’s son, Seth is a very successful singer/songwriter, and tours the country, and the world! He and his sister Jennie were raised in a handmade log home just outside of Altamahwa – Ossippee, north of Elon College. They built and lived in the house with another family, “The Waltons”, (just like the TV show),just north of Elon College. Now based in Asheville, North Carolina, The WFB plays at festivals, weddings, private parties, and other events. They are all teachers as well as performers. They offer a fiddle camp every summer in Blowing Rock, NC.Website: https://thewalkerfamilyband.com
