A 4-Class Workshop to Embody Grace, Power & Feminine Storytelling Through Dance

Mondays: August 4, 11, 18, 25 – 2025 | 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Ready to refine your cumbia and move with elegance, intention, and soul? This 4-class workshop is for dancers who already have a foundation in Colombian folkloric cumbia and are eager to dive deeper into its feminine power, expressive artistry, and Afro-Indigenous roots.

Together, we’ll explore the grace, charm, and storytelling that define the feminine essence of cumbia. Whether you’re looking to express your sensuality, connect to ancestral movement, or simply feel more powerful in your body, this class is a space for exploration and transformation.

Each class begins with a warm welcome and a little “chismesito” (friendly chat) to build community before we dance! Then, we’ll dive into refining:

💃 Posture & Precision: Strengthen your cumbia stance, master the arrastre de pies (gliding footwork), and develop fluidity through knees and hips.

🌀 Expressive Arms & Skirt Work: Command the pollera (skirt) with grace, exploring gestures that captivate and tell stories.

🌺 Face & Feeling: Harness the power of smiles, glances, and playful expressions to bring your cumbia to life.

🌟 Choreographic Culmination: We'll close the series with an empowering group piece, bringing together all your refined skills in a beautiful final dance.

This isn't just about steps; it's about embodying the elegance, charm, and captivating storytelling of this iconic dance.

All identities are welcome: this is a space to connect with your expressive, feminine energy in whatever form that takes for you. No partner required, and all materials needed for the series will be provided, including headpieces, polleras (cumbia skirts), new, unused makeup, and props.
