About this Event

Join us for Where the Waters Fell, a photographic reflection capturing the spaces and faces reshaped by flooding and the quiet power of community resilience after Hurricane Helene.

Free and open to the public, this exhibit opening will feature live music, food, healing spaces, and a community panel discussion exploring recovery journeys and storytelling in the wake of disaster.

Original prints and locally made items will be available for purchase, with proceeds going to support Beloved Asheville and ongoing community recovery efforts. Your purchases will directly help neighbors impacted by the storm and strengthen local mutual aid and storytelling work, even as the event itself remains free and welcoming to all.

Come witness these powerful images, connect with your neighbors, and take part in conversations about collective care and rebuilding together.

Info: Kick off the evening with opening words from photographer Kai Lendzion, followed by a panel with community leaders sharing stories of recovery, resilience, and care after Hurricane Helene.

Live Music with McKinney and Dj Doula
Host: McKinney

Info: Enjoy a soulful live performance by McKinney, an Asheville-based bassist and singer-songwriter whose empowering neo-soul/funk music centers mental health awareness and community connection.


Following, unwind with a groove set by DJ Doula (Nicole Lee), who mixes R&B, Neo-Soul, old-school hip-hop, jazz, and gospel — creating a healing and joyful soundtrack for our shared evening.

Gallery Viewing & Community Reception

Info: After the music, the full gallery will open for guests to explore the photographs at their own pace. Photographer Kai Lendzion will be present in the space for informal conversation, reflection, and connection. Info: Led by Katherine Gutschenritter of Resources for Resilience, this session invites participants into a guided healing workshop designed to foster community connection and restorative care. Drawing on trauma-informed, science-backed tools used by local educators and first responders, Katherine will guide us through simple practices—rooted in stress recovery and collective care—to help process shared experiences and build resilience togethe
