About this Event

Join us for a beginner workshop where you’ll create your own summer-style earrings and an adorable kitty cat ornament! These handmade pieces can be used in many creative ways, from a cute bag charm or coaster to a heartfelt gift. This class will be taught by interdisciplinary sustainable artists Leila Ghasempor and Gigi Farmer. In this workshop, you’ll learn foundational crochet techniques, including:


  • Magic Ring
  • Simple Stitches
  • Increasing & Decreasing
  • Chains and Embroidery for Finishing Touches

By the end of the session, you’ll walk away with a new skill, the confidence to read basic crochet patterns, and a fun project you can be proud of.

Who Can Join: Adults and children age 12+ (children must be accompanied by a parent)

Free parking is available at the front entrance of Art Bias and along the surrounding streets.

Leila Ghasempor is an interdisciplinary sustainable artist who studied at the Art Institute of Chicago. She is the founder of People Around Us, a platform dedicated to supporting artists and crafters. Leila also serves as the Workshops Director at FabMo, an organization focused on sustainability and the creative reuse of materials. Leila will lead the Crochet Workshop, co-teaching alongside Gigi.

Gigi Farmer is a multidisciplinary artist with a background in art history, ceramics, and textile arts from various cultural traditions. She will co-teach this beginner’s crochet class alongside Leila, bringing her diverse artistic experience to the workshop.
