Making Contact // The Horror Pod Class Live!
About this Event
dir. Roland Emmerich / 1985 / 1 hr 38 mins
Starring: Joshua Morrell, Eva Kryll, Jan Zierold
All this year, the Horror Pod Class will be exploring a century of fright films with their Yearbook series, covering one movie from each decade from 1925 through 2015. And what could be a better representation of 1985 than the director of Independence Day doing Steven Spielberg's greatest hits?
Making Contact is a notorious (and notoriously weird) German production that takes everything from E.T. to Close Encounters to Poltergeist, puts it all in a blender with Stephen King's IT (a year before that novel came out) and an evil ventriloquist dummy, and pours the resulting concoction all over the screen. With plenty of optical effects, kids on bikes, and even a guest appearance by Darth Vader, this FREE screening is something you'll have to see to believe - then stick around afterward as Orrin and Tyler talk about the 80s, ventriloquism, and more!
THE HORROR POD CLASS is a monthly free screening hosted by Orrin Grey and Tyler Unsell where they seek out horror films that could be useful in a school setting. Screenings start at 7pm with a live podcast recording taking place after.
