Shape & Sculpt: Handbuild a Bowl from Clay

CLASS DESCRIPTION:
Join Remy Studio for a beginner-friendly clay workshop where you'll create your very own hand-built slab bowl. You'll learn the versatile mold draping technique, smoothing a sheet of soft clay over a plaster mold to achieve a beautiful shape. We'll also guide you through forming a stable foot for your piece.
Once your bowl is firm enough to remove from the mold, the real fun begins – decorating! Plaster molds offer a fantastic starting shape, allowing you to personalize your design as much as you wish.
All materials are provided, so just bring yourself and dress comfortably (clay dust can be a bit messy, though it doesn't stain). Your finished bowls will be ready for pickup 3-4 weeks after class at Shop Made in VA.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Remy Ciuba is a Richmond ceramist, educator, and owner of Remy Studio. She brings seven years of experience teaching wheel throwing and hand building. Remy's workshops are designed to be enjoyable, spark curiosity in ceramics, and empower participants to continue their clay journey. Her personal work emphasizes functional forms with distinctive, repetitive surface designs.
