About this Event
Come laugh, cry, and sing with Tonton and Grandma Jean in this folklore musical about a family and friends who find beauty as they accompany their elders on their journey to becoming ancestors. Inspired by the lives of master Haitian percussionist Catelus "Tonton" Laguerre and the late Scottish-Canadian-American, Miami-Dade County Public Schools educator Dr. Frances Jean Fraser, this is the story of the passing of two elders from two different cultures in the same house over the course of one long year. These are the last songs of Jean and Tonton.
With the support of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners.
