Women of the Storm: A Screening and Panel Discussion
About this Event
The Gulf States Newsroom presents a special event commemorating the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, with a screening of the 2015 documentary ‘Women of the Storm’. Produced by LSU professor and filmmaker Wesley Shrum, the film takes viewers through the events of the storm, the aftermath, and gives an in-depth look at a group of civic minded women who took the recovery effort into their own hands. The "Women of the Storm" work had a huge impact on New Orleans’ recovery and shows how citizens can make change in their communities by working together. Founder Anne Milling will be joined by Professor Shrum and other notables who are featured in the film for a Q&A following the screening. This event is free and open to the public, but advance reservations are required. The Prytania will have refreshments available for purchase.
A tremendous thanks to the Prytania Theatre for sponsoring and hosting this event and for WWNO 89.9 FM New Orleans for their promotional support and partnership. For questions or more information, contact bXNjaHJhbW0gfCBucHIgISBvcmc= or bmVsbGllIHwgZ3VsZnN0YXRlc25ld3Nyb29tICEgb3Jn
