This 4-week Handbuilding Course is the perfect blend of learning, creating, and growing as a ceramic artist — whether you're just starting or looking to sharpen your technique.

Over the course of four Thursdays, you’ll learn foundational and intermediate handbuilding techniques while completing beautiful, functional pieces. Each week introduces a new method, giving you time to develop your skills and explore your personal style.

🗓️ What’s Included:– 25 lbs of clay– All firings and glazes– 24/7 access to the studio for practice and homework– Weekly 3-hour guided sessions with experienced instructors– Individual support and feedback throughout the course

Course Structure:

Week 1 – Introduction & Pinch Pots– Overview of handbuilding techniques– Make a pinch pot from a pound of clay– Learn smoothing techniques (tools + hands)– Add texture or decoration using stamps and slip attachments

Week 2 – Coil Building– Learn different types of coils– Smoothing, blending, and stitching techniques– Build a sculptural or functional piece with coils– Explore texture, balance, and finishing

Week 3 – Slab Building– Use a slab roller and hand-rolling methods– Learn how to attach and smooth slabs– Add texture and use plaster forms or templates– Create a slab-built piece with structure and design

Week 4 – Glazing– Intro to glaze types and techniques– Dipping vs. brushing– Glaze chemistry basics– Dipping demo + proper bottom cleaning for firing
