Pressure Canning Hands-On Workshop: Chicken
Come join us at True Cut Ranch for a fun and informative hands-on workshop all about pressure canning chicken! Learn the ins and outs of safely preserving this versatile protein for long-term storage. Melissa Falcone, a farmer and experienced scratch cooking instructor, will guide you through the process step by step, ensuring you leave with the knowledge and confidence to tackle pressure canning at home. Don't miss this opportunity to expand your culinary skills and stock your pantry with delicious, home-canned pork, beef, and chicken. We'll pressure can a variety of meats including chicken cuts (breast, thigh, leg), pork, and beef using both an electric pressure canner and a traditional pressure canner. While the canners are running we'll do a taste test of two dishes using canned meats. You'll also be invited for a tour of Melissa's extended panty and have a chance to ask all your food preservation and food storage questions.
There will also be an opportunity to go over Melissa's food preparedness baby steps and learn about stockpiling nourishing and delicious food in your extended pantry. Take home the knowledge and confidence to safely can at home. Sign up now!

Info: Check in for the workshop inside the farm store (the farm will be open 12-3pm) and get ready to learn about canning, get hands-on experience, and meet other people interested in food security and food preservation.

Raw pack method
Info: We’ll get started right away with raw packing chicken in both quart and pint jars. We’ll have legs, boneless thigh, and boneless breast to choose from. Learn about the raw pack method, jar and lid selection, head space, and then let’s get the jars loaded into both a manual and an electric pressure canner.

Info: Let’s set the canners up for success, learn about venting and canning times, food safety, botulism, and more. Experience the sights and sounds for yourself so you can confidently try this at home to fill your pantry with protein like chicken, pork, lamb, venison, and beef.

Info: See how easy it is to quickly prepare a meal using home-canned meats. We’ll sample two completely different recipes.

Food preparedness baby steps + Pantry Tour + Q&A
Info: Melissa Falcone will explain her baby steps for creating a resilient and prepared kitchen with a food supply. You'll also get inspired by seeing her extended pantry, which includes a variety of home pressure-canned meats. She’ll also answer all your pressure canning questions and send you home with some helpful handouts. You’ll leave with a custom-to-you action plan to fill your pantry (whether it’s one little cupboard shelf or a full-on year’s supply). We’ll get to observe the end of the canning process (cool down).

Info: Thank you for coming. During this time we'll wrap up by removing the jars of chicken from the pressure canner and talk about how to check if the seal is good! You'll be ready to safely and confidently home can meats for your household after this workshop.
