SCOSAR enCompass Training
About this Event
You are invited to attend enCompass, a comprehensive training on navigating addiction. The training is sponsored and delivered by the Surry County Office of Substance Abuse Recovery and created by Addiction Policy Forum.
This free 8-hour training session is in person and open to all adults who want to learn more about addiction and have the skills to respond. Attendees often include families, friends, caregivers, clergy, law enforcement, first responders, healthcare providers, employers, educators, community-based service providers, and anyone interested in learning how to respond to substance use/co-occurring disorders.
Like CPR, the course is designed to build the skills to support and respond to someone who needs help.
enCompass participants will learn:
- Signs and Symptoms of Addiction
- Importance of Getting an Assessment
- Evidence-Based Treatment Options, Including Medications to Treat Addiction
- Recovery Support and Relapse Prevention
- How to Start the Conversation with Someone in Need of Support
- Defining Oneβs Own Personal Boundaries and Principles of Self-Care
