Cats and Dogs Exhibition Opening | With Associate Professor Nancy Cushing

The exhibition on loan from the Australian National Maritime Museum are photos taken by Samuel Hood, depicting beloved pets on board ships moored in Sydney Harbour. Nancy Cushing will speak about the history of pet keeping in Australia and a recent news story of a Dachshund named Valerie who was lost on Kangaroo Island for over 400 days.
Light refreshments available afterwards in the foyer where the exhibition will be displayed.
Associate Professor Nancy Cushing is an environmental history specialist at the University of Newcastle on Awabakal and Worimi country.β―She is a recognised expert in human-animal relations and currently holds the Coral Thomas Fellowship at the State Library of New South Wales (2024 β 25) where she is writing a history of animals in Sydney.
