Mindful Nature Journaling Hike / Flushing Meadows Corona Park (Queens)
About this Event
Join me for a hike at Flushing Meadows Corona Park. We'll hike the Pat Dolan Trail around Willow Lake for approximately 30 minutes pausing for a 5 minute guided mediation followed by a 15 minute nature journaling session where we'll write, sketch, trace, doodle, or notate our impressions. Then we'll hike back out.
- Meet up spot: by the Medex Diagnostic and Treatment Center
- I recommend wearing socks and comfortable walking shoes that can get muddy
- Pencils & journals are provided (or feel free to bring your own)

This is an true "urban hike" in that you'll experience a sharp and immediate contrast between city infrastructure and wilderness. The trail crosses over the Grand Central Parkway and leads us into the shady wetlands around Willow Lake. As we hike into the park the highway noise becomes background to birds, crickets, and the plod of our footsteps.
engage participants with nature threefold; the hike immerses us in nature, the meditation quiets the nervous system, and the journaling provides the means to closely observe and thereby connect more deeply with nature within the NYC.
Jessica Dalrymple is a Brooklyn based artist, teacher, and horticulturist. She teaches botanical drawing and leads Nature Journaling Hikes through NYC parks and green spaces. She has taught and led events for nature forward organizations including: Gowanus Dredgers, The Old Stone House Brooklyn, Human Impacts Institute, Molly Oliver Flowers, Remedies Herb Shop, Trestle Art Space, and more.
