Join Spencer Dennis in Salt Lake City, Utah for a two day movement workshop exploring floor-work, movement efficiency, and soft acrobatics!

About this Event

A two day workshop totalling in 8 hours of workshop classes with Spencer Dennis. Through each four hour session, workshop attendees will work with Spencer to explore pathways and perspectives on movement, gaining a deeper understanding of their own distinct movement language. Each session will offer students time to study, practice, play, and reflect on the material alongside Spencer and the other attendees.The workshop will integrate concepts from floorwork, yoga, modern dance, animal flow, jiu jitsu, release, and soft acrobatics. Movement practitioners of all stripes are welcome to join in the workshop and explore new concepts to integrate into their practice. Options are available to attend a single day or the full workshop with both sessions exploring distinct concepts from one another.

Day One
Host: Spencer Dennis

Info: Spencer breaks his workshop classes into three distinct segments: study, practice, and play. During study Spencer offers students foundational concepts and pathways to examine from multiple perspectives. Students work with partners to discuss and better understand how these concepts connect fundamentally to their larger movement practice. In the Practice portion of class Spencer leads students through short patterns and exercises that engage with the material discussed during Study. Students will develop their own comfort level with the material to begin integrating it into their movement language. Lastly, during Play students are given the opportunity to test their own understanding and perspective of the workshop material. This may look like an extended movement sequence, a dance phrase, improvisation, or collaborative sequence creation.
