Hendricks County Crisis Intervention Team Training
About this Event
Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training is a 40-hour credited course that equips law enforcement officers with the tools and understanding they need to effectively and compassionately respond to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. This specialized training is vital in ensuring our community members living with mental illness are met with empathy, de-escalation techniques, and appropriate resources and not simply enforcement. Topics covered include legal and court processes, brain development, trauma-informed care, active listening and de-escalation techniques, and common mental health disorders. Each subject is taught by professionals from Hendricks County who work in the fields of criminal justice and mental health, providing participants with locally relevant expertise and insight.
