About this Event

Looking for a family-friendly day in nature where you can get plugged into the community? Look no further!

Join The Piedmont Environmental Council at Montfair Resort Farm for a unique summer day dedicated to enjoying the outdoors and learning about conservation work in the region – we’ll have a nature walk, informal chats about landscape-scale conservation and expanding public trails including the Three Notched Trail.

There will also be open fishing in the well-stocked lake (bring your own gear), four canoes available for use, miles of trails to explore, a food truck and live music. You’ll leave both more plugged into your community environmental organization and recharged from a day amongst the trees.

Please register before arriving.

Learn About Local Conservation Efforts: Discover how The Piedmont Environmental Council is working to safeguard our landscapes and promote sustainable communities. Engage directly with PEC experts in conversation about critical land conservation efforts like the significant Shenandoah Borderlands project that overlooks Montfair's stunning property or learn about bird conservation and native plants on a guided nature walk. You can also learn about local initiatives that impact our daily lives, such as the Free Bridge Lane petition and the exciting development of the Three Notched Trail, which will run near this very location.

Fun Activities: While you're learning, your family can revel in the joys of summer! Cast a line in Montfair's well-stocked fishing pond, glide across the water in one of four available canoes, play bocce ball or corn hole on the lake front lawn or explore miles of scenic nature trails. Savor delicious food from Popitos Pizza and enjoy the lively atmosphere with live music in the afternoon. Not wanting to leave yet? Relax in front of Montfair's famous bonfires after the event is over.

This is a perfect opportunity for folks of all ages but especially new residents and families in the Crozet area to connect with their community, understand the importance of local conservation, and see firsthand how PEC is making a difference. Come for the fun, leave with a deeper understanding of our region's environmental future. We look forward to welcoming you for a day of nature, learning, and community building!
