SF Bay Area Samba and Afro-Brazilian dancers are in for a big treat! Let's welcome a master teacher and cultural treasure of Samba no Pé from Rio de Janeiro; Mayombe Masai. Mayombe brings a truly unique style and perspective for any samba dancer to experience, with step-by-step approach infused with cultural knowledge and unmistakable swing.

This immersion series will allow any participants to not only get familiar with the foundations of Samba no Pé with increased body awareness and musicality - whether samba is the elegant passista style or dynamic malandro style - but also expand and deepen the understanding of the roots and infinite possibilities of Samba, the quintessential cultural expression of Brazil.

🔥MAYOMBE MASAI🔥

Born and raised in Estácio — the birthplace of samba in Rio de Janeiro — he grew up deeply rooted in samba circles and Afro-Brazilian culture. In Rio Carnaval 2025, he embodied Oxála in Imperatriz Leopoldinense samba school, and personified Zé Pilintra in the commissão de frente of Acadêmico do Salgueiro.
