About this Event

Join us as we work on invasive plant removal as the first part of a comprehensive eco-restoration program for the Ingrid Graham Historic Hellam Nature Preserve.

Note: The Ingrid Graham Historic Hellam Nature Preserve is currently closed to general visitation while it undergoes the master planning process. It is open for select educational events only.

What to Expect: We will be working on potentially steep, uneven terrain with multiple trip hazards using hand tools to remove invasive shrubs such as multiflora rose, bush honeysuckle, and privet. Hand tools and work gloves will be provided. Feel free to bring your own gloves. There are restroom facilities available on site. This event is recommended for ages 10 and up (particpants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult).

Where to Meet: Coordintates to parking area: 39.999633, -76.594754. Follow long gravel drive, veering to the right at the barn. Parking is available in the gravel lot.

What to Bring: Dress for the weather. Long pants and closed toe shoes are a must. Bring drinking water and a snack.

Event Leader: Keith Williams is the Vice President of Engagement and Education for Lancaster Conservancy. Keith is an environmental educator, naturalist, writer, and photographer.

Animal Policy: Service animals active or in training are welcome. Please leave all pets at home.

Cancellation Policy: This event will be held rain or shine, with cancellation for severe weather made at the time of the event. If the Conservancy reschedules the event, attendees will be emailed and tickets will be automatically moved to the new date. If the Conservancy cancels the event, attendees will be notified via email when possible and refunded.
