"In My Skin": A Night of Music & Performance to Fundraise for MaineTransNet
About this Event
In celebration of Pride Month, Central Maine Artists for Justice — a group of performers, musicians and artists from Central Maine — is hosting a fundraising event on behalf of MaineTransNet (information below).
Tickets are a $15 suggested donation, however, we encourage generosity if people have the means to donate more.
The theme for the event's performances is titled, "In My Skin." Performers will share creative pieces that explore the idea of being safe within our own personal identities, especially in a world that has become increasingly fixated on telling us who we are — or punishing us for who we aren't. Performances will include songs, stories, poems, theatrical pieces, and... perhaps group singing?!?! Come find out!
Additionally, there will be a bake sale (ingredients will be identified for allergies and dietary needs), as well as themed visual art for purchase. All additional proceeds from these sales will go to MaineTransNet.
The doors to the event open at 6:00pm, and the performances will begin at 6:30pm. During that half-hour, we encourage people to come hang out, connect with others, and purchase baked goods and art.
For the last half hour of the show, we will invite all attendees to partake in an open discussion about our current political reality. We will vent, emotionally support each other, and also discuss ways to support and fight for all who are under attack right now.
The event space is located on the second floor. We recognize that this is not accessible to all, and as such, we will be either livestreaming or recording the event — details to come. If you are interested in watching the show (during or after) please reach out to us so we can be sure to accommodate you. Additionally, if you have other accessibility needs (including language needs), we want to hear from you, especially as we look to host, and create, future events.
Join us — we absolutely can't wait to be in community with you!

Central Maine Artists for Justice (aka "CMAJOR") is a creative collective formed in support of immigrants, the LGBTQIA+ community, bodily autonomy, and racial justice. Through the transformative power of the arts, we amplify and educate about social justice actions in Lewiston and throughout Maine. We serve as a hub by redirecting people and resources to engage with our community. We support the ongoing work of local social justice organizations through coalition building, arts events, and fundraising. CMAJ believes the arts serve as a tangible expression of the human experience to foster a deeper empathy for the humanity of all.
