Philosopher Jason Wirth presents on Humanity in the Anthropocene. What does the Anthropocene (anthropos or humanity as an earth altering force) indicate about the nature of our humanity? How is it an opportunity to rethink radically the humanistic tradition and the humanities?  

 NOTE: This program takes place in the Latino Room (Lower Level).

Jason M. Wirth is Chair and professor of Philosophy at Seattle University. His areas of specialization include environmental philosophy, Buddhist philosophy and the philosophy of art, and his books include Mountains, Rivers, and the Great Earth: Reading Gary Snyder and Dōgen in An Age of Ecological Crisis, Nietzsche and Other Buddhas: Philosophy After Comparative Philosophy and Schelling's Practice of the Wild: Time, Art, Imagination.
